The Basics

What is the Fire Drive?
The Fire Drive is a community-organized donation event where Brooklyn Heights neighbors donate furniture, household goods, clothing, and other items to help families displaced by the January 2026 fire at 75 Pierrepont Street. It's being hosted at Plymouth Church, Hillis Hall, 56 Cranberry Street.
When and where do I go?
Come to 56 Cranberry Street (Plymouth Church, Hillis Hall) on Sunday, March 22. The day runs from 1:30โ€“5:00 PM in three parts:
  • 1:30โ€“3:00 PM โ€” Select donated items. Browse and claim furniture, clothing, and household items with a volunteer by your side. Please arrive by 2:30 PM โ€” selections are first-come, first-served (other than items reserved for acute-need households) and must be finalized by 3:00 PM.
  • 3:00โ€“3:45 PM โ€” Register for free Clutter storage. Jane from Clutter will be onsite to help you register for 3 months of complimentary full-service storage for your claimed items.
  • 3:45โ€“5:00 PM โ€” Legal info session with Communities Resist. Jac Quiles from CoRe will hold an information session on pro bono legal representation for 75 Pierrepont tenants. No commitment required to attend.
What if I can't make it in person?
Please let us know in advance by replying to the email from pierrepontfirevolunteers@gmail.com. We'll set up a FaceTime or other video call with an assigned volunteer who can be your eyes and ears onsite and help you claim items remotely.
What should I bring?
If you have any lying around, bring tote bags or a suitcase in case there are small items you'd like to take home that day. Volunteers will help carry things home if you want to take them with you. We'll try to have bags onsite too. For anything you'd like to keep but can't take that day, see the free Clutter storage offer below.

Claiming Items

How does claiming items work?
Each person will be accompanied by a volunteer who will walk through the donations with you. When you see something you'd like, the volunteer will put a sticker on it to mark it as yours. You can then decide whether to take items home that day or put them into free storage with Clutter.
Is there a limit on what I can claim?
There is no formal limit. Knowing how supportive you all are of each other, we trust you'll take what you need and be cognizant of the severity of the fire's impact on your household vs. others.
Should I feel bad about claiming a lot โ€” or nothing at all?
No! We are doing this Fire Drive for you. Please don't feel guilty if you claim nothing, claim a lot, don't claim things you thought you might want, or claim things you didn't tell us you'd want.
What happens to unclaimed items?
Everything unclaimed by 3:00 PM Sunday will be passed on to charity. Plymouth Church has generously offered to ensure all remaining donations go to their thrift shop and other charity and mutual aid partners.

Free Storage with Clutter

What is the Clutter partnership?
Clutter and the Brooklyn Heights Association have partnered to provide professional moving and 3 months of complimentary full-service storage for the families of 75 Pierrepont Street. Clutter will photo-catalogue your items, store them securely, and deliver them back to your door whenever you're ready.
How do I sign up for free storage?
Join us on Sunday, March 22 (Family Day) at Plymouth Church โ€” please arrive between 1:30 and 2:30pm (56 Cranberry Street). A Clutter team representative will be onsite to walk you through the process and help you get set up, including storage of any newly donated items you'd like to keep.
How will my items be stored and tracked?
Clutter will photo-catalogue every item and store them in a secure facility. You'll have access to a Clutter online account portal where you can see exactly what's in storage and check in on your belongings at any time.
How do I get my items back when I'm ready to move home?
Sign into your Clutter online account portal and schedule a delivery. Clutter will deliver your items directly to your door whenever you're ready โ€” no stress, no hauling.
What if I need storage longer than 3 months?
After the 3-month complimentary period, you can continue with Clutter's service and pay only for the space you use. Delivery back to you remains available through your online account.

Donations & Collection

How are donations being collected?
Clutter is providing a free moving truck and movers on Friday, March 20, which will be circulating in Brooklyn Heights all day to pick up donated items at people's front doors. All items will be centralized at 56 Cranberry, Plymouth Church's Hillis Hall.
How do you decide what to ask donors for?
We rely on what you tell us! The more critical your need for a specific item, the more likely we are to source it for you through the Fire Drive. Please fill out the Needs Registry if you haven't already so we can target our asks to the BHA community.
Are there other partnerships beyond Clutter and Plymouth?
Yes! We are also reaching out to Target, IKEA, Costco, B.I.G., and Housing Works to identify further partners who may be able to help fill the gaps for you on your road to recovery.
